Warrior Dash Race Recap - Rockin' Refuel Team

I am so glad that when Rockin' Refuel reached out to me a few weeks ago about the possibility of running in the Warrior Dash that I said YES!

Talk about a fun and muddy race!

If you've never heard of the Warrior Dash before, you need to check it out. And if the thought of signing up for a mud run has ever crossed your mind, even if just for a split second, then you need to sign up for one right now. Seriously, go find one and sign up now!

The Warrior Dash is a 5k filled with obstacles and mud. Lots of mud.

The day of the race the entire team met at my place so we could carpool to Crawfordsville, IN which is about an hour away from us. When we arrived we were able to quickly find parking, pick up our race packets and bib numbers, put away our stuff, and head on over to the Rockin' Refuel booth for our pre-race photos!

After that we headed over to the start line and waited for our heat to start. We were the only people at the starting line along with a couple of other runners so we weren't sure if we arrived late. After the race announcer made us all do burpees, we were off and on our way to be covered in mud!

The first mile of the race was nothing but hiking through the woods. This sounds easy but it was almost impossible to run because it rained the night before and everything was so slippery, muddy, and uneven.

Most of the obstacles on the course were totally doable - climbing over mud mounds, crawling through trenches, running (mostly walking) through the super muddy woods, and sliding into a pool of mud. And others were a bit harder - climbing ropes, climbing over walls, and completing obstacles in heavy rain.

I think my favorite obstacle had to have been "Goliath" which was a huge slide that went straight into a pool of mud! My friend and I went down hand in hand and figured that it wasn't going to be that deep. We were wrong! We went all the way under and came up muddier than we were before, if that was even possible.

Once we crossed the finish line we headed over to the Rockin' Refuel booth to refuel! We chose to drink a delicious ice cold Muscle Recovery Chocolate drink that tasted exactly like chocolate milk! (click here to see all of the other tasty products and flavors)

After we refueled, we hit the showers, met up with our team, and hung out at the after party.

Thanks again for an awesome day, Rockin' Refuel!

Hanging Out Upside Down

Ever find that hanging out right side up is a tad bit boring?

Megan and I prefer hanging out upside down!

After tackling a parade with 8 kids and taking them all to a community park event all day, we decided to catch the afternoon 4:00 WOD held every Saturday at our local box. The WOD was an AMRAP of deadlifts and handstand pushups! Are we crazy or what? And after the workout we still had enough energy to take the kids out to dinner...

Question of the Day

What's your favorite exercise to incorporate into a workout?

While I Was Away

Hey strangers. Or am I the stranger here? I haven't blogged in... awhile.

While I was gone I seriously debated on whether or not to keep this blog alive and active and then it hit me - I love blogging when I can. So that's what I'm going to do, blog when I can.

It was stressing me out being away from the blog and not posting anything but I've realized that life comes first. I need to focus on my classes, work, and training (I'm going to start training for another half very soon!) and will definitely update you on that!

Anyways, the only fun and exciting thing that happened when I was gone was my 21st birthday! My mom took me to Chicago for my birthday and some of her best friends tagged along! We went out to eat at a fun Italian restaurant, went to several bars (some were very interesting!), and did a little shopping on Navy Pier. It was definitely a great trip.

Speaking of trips, I'm leaving for Cali on Monday to visit family and I couldn't be more excited! I love it out there. I will share pictures when I return!

For now, enjoy some pictures from Chicago!

Question

Any exciting vacations coming up for you?!

Indy 500 Race

Over the weekend I had the chance to go to the Indy 500 Race with a few friends. My dad gets free tickets each year and wasn't going so he gave them to us!

I'm normally not the type to want to sit around and watch racing but going with good friends makes it 10x more enjoyable. And not to mention the crazy people behind us who love racing a little too much!

The forecast showed a chance of rain all day but luckily for us it held out until we got back to our car after the race. It was an overcast day too, which is unusual because I feel like every time I go to a car race I get fried because it's so hot out!

Alex was able to come down for the holiday weekend too. He had to go back home for the summer to work so I don't get to see him very often now. Having him here all weekend was definitely a blast and he loves racing so it was a win-win for both of us :)

I hope you all had a fun Memorial Day weekend!

P.S. If you haven't done so yet, enter Kim's giveaway to win one of my non-slip and ouch-free headbands by clicking HERE! She's choosing a winner on Thursday!

Question

How did you spend your holiday weekend? Do you enjoy going to car races?

A Day With Good Friends

Yesterday afternoon two of my good friends from back home came to visit me at school. Their spring break is this week while mine was last week so we didn't see each other when I was home. We have all been friends since elementary school and I'm glad we have remained such good friends over the years. With going to school, working, and living in different cities it's hard to keep in touch but we manage!

Yesterday they picked me up and we headed to Scotty's Brewhouse for lunch. Scotty's is more common around college campuses and has a wide variety of foods but are known for their burgers.

I ordered from the lunch special and got the Half Buffalo Chicken Wrap with Three Wise Men seasoned potato chips on the side. The wrap was spicy but not overwhelmingly spicy and the chips were tasty! The first time I went to Scotty's I got the Buffalo Chicken Wrap (not the half version) and I could hardly finish it so I was happy with the half size during lunch. We also sipped on some delicious raspberry iced teas while we were there.

We finished off lunch by sharing a piece of Salted Caramel Cheesecake. The cheesecake was gone before I could snap a picture! It had a sweet and salty almond crust, caramel cheesecake, and was topped with buttery caramel. Delicious!

After lunch we went to Target. All 3 of us LOVE Target so nobody had any problems going there. Plus there's not much else to do in this little college town.

When we were there I spotted some fun spring colored tanks and shirts. I am loving the mint green and the light teal color that are floating around stores right now.

I also saw these.

Now, let's be honest. I will probably only wear them once in my life. But you never know when you are going to need some sparkly high heels! And the fact that they were $4 and fit, well I just couldn't pass them up.

I also bought this fun pink sports bra which was also on clearance. (This is a fitness blog so I can show you my sports bra, right?)

Overall, I had a blast catching up with them and can't wait until summer when I can see them more! I also managed to get out of Target spending less than 30 bucks which may be a new record.

Be sure to check out the awesome t-shirts that I am selling for my aunt. There is also a giveaway that you could be entered in if you buy one. Details here

Question

Have you ever been to Scotty's before? What did you think?
Have you ever been able to go into to Target without spending every penny you own? It was hard for me!
