Nail Polish Organization Tip

Today I'm changing it up a little bit here on the blog!

I don't have any food pictures, exercises, or recipes to share but rather a fashion tip! I'm not a fashionista by any means but I do think that this little tip is something worth sharing.

I absolutely love painting my nails. Sometimes I paint them two times a week just because I love all of the different colors so much it's hard to choose just one! I'm always trying out new designs and color combos and this little trick has came into handy, especially when I need just the right color.

Whenever I buy nail polish I stick a toothpick into the jar and then dab a little bit of paint right on top of the lid.

This helps a lot when I am looking at all of my colors at once (see photo below) and it also helps me see what the color looks like when dried. How many times have you caught yourself in the middle of the nail polish aisle with little paint swatches all over your nails?

By adding a little drop of color to the lids I am able to quickly see what colors I have in my box of polish rather than take them all out and look at the bottles. I also love that if I have a big date planned, a wedding, or other event where I want my nails to match my clothes, I am able to match the already dried nail polish to the outfit! I don't have to guess which one will match the best and then be disappointed when it doesn't match the dress!

Question:

What do you think of my little life hack?
Do you want me to share more of my amazing beauty secrets here on the blog? Ha!

First Day of Fall (Plus A Giveaway)

* This giveaway has ended *

I feel like it was just yesterday that it was the first day of summer. How it is already fall? I'm not upset though. I absolutely love fall. Sweaters, boots, coffee, bonfires, football games, pumpkin desserts topped with lots of whip cream, the colors changing, leaves crunching on the ground... the list goes on and on.

The way I'm celebrating the first day of fall is by lighting a pumpkin cupcake candle, giving myself a fresh manicure, and by eating a handful of pumpkin spice M&Ms. Oh, and I'm also offering a giveaway to all of you!

(Side note: There is also a giveaway going on on Twitter currently - that one is through Rockin' Ribbons!)

Giveaway

One lucky reader will win a Rockin' Ribbons headband of their choice! All you have to do is check out all of the headbands available by clicking here and then comment below with your favorite one! You can earn extra entries too!

Tis the Season

It is starting to look a lot like Christmas around our house! We have our first family Christmas party to go to tomorrow at my grandma's house so lots of gift wrapping, baking, and hot chocolate drinking took place today.

I made a fun, festive cake for the party. Pictures of it are to come later because you can't get the full effect of the cake until you actually cut a piece of it! Here's a picture of the prepping for the cake..

I also made some Christmas Cookie Brittle to take over. It was super easy to make and put our red and green Christmas chocolate chips to good use!

Christmas Cookie Brittle Recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/4 cups chocolate chips

Directions:
1. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Gradually add flour and mix well. Add in chocolate chips.
2. Line a 15in x 10in baking pan with foil and then spray with cooking spray.
3. Press the dough into the pan. Sprinkle with any remaining chocolate chips.
4. Bake at 350' for 20-25 minutes. Cool and then invert pan and remove foil. Break the brittle into pieces and enjoy!

This recipe can be easily altered by adding nuts, pecans, m&ms, or different color chocolate chips depending on the occasion!

After all of the presents were wrapped I did a little blogging and sipped on a cup of hot chocolate. Between blogging and hot chocolate sipping, I also painted my nails for the party tomorrow.

How are you getting into the Christmas spirit?
