Personally, I think that when most women head to the weight room they are afraid to do arm workouts. You see all of these big, strong men lifting weights that weigh more than you do. Whenever I go over and pick up a 10 pound weight I often feel like a wimp next to them but I am not in there to get buff - I'm in there to get stronger. If this is the case for you too then that's just what this circuit will help you do.
I completed this arm workout after 25 minutes on the elliptical. I used 10 pound weights for all of the exercises except the tricep extensions and shoulder shrugs for which I used 15 pound weights.
The "Rowers" are like doing a superman but you pull your arms back and squeeze your shoulder blades together to work your upper back instead of keeping your arms extended out in front of you. There may be another name for this exercise because when I Googled "Rowers exercise" something totally different popped up!
My arms were definitely on fire after it! If you are up for a challenge then repeat the circuit for a third time or increase the reps of the exercises.
Do you often find yourself avoiding the weight room at the gym?
Just found your blog and I love this circuit, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoy it! Come back for more fun workouts :)
DeleteThis is an awesome workout, Danielle! I use to be terrified of using weights at the gym but over the past 3-4 months have been incorporating more strength training into my fitness routine and I have noticed a huge difference in my body and endurance :)
ReplyDeleteTrue true true...It's intimidating to go over there with all those guys and pick up the "scrawny" girl weights, but we wanna get strong too! haha
