Stop Trouble Before It Starts®

Ever find yourself stopping earlier on a run than planned because chafing and blisters are making it unbearable? Do certain materials or hot weather make you chafe? Have you tried countless products and remedies to eliminate chafing and blisters but nothing works? Well I'm here to tell you that I have found a product that really does work - and it's BodyGlide.

I personally find chafing to be at it's worst when I am running inside (because of how hot it gets), when I am running in the summer, or when I wear certain pairs of running shorts. Now when I run in tights or in the cooler months I don't have a problem with chafing at all but it's not realistic to run in tights in the middle of June nor is the weather always going to be perfect for running.

When I contacted BodyGlide and told them about my chafing problems they quickly offered to send a sample of their product. I was sent the BodyGlide For Her Stick and BodyGlide For Her Pocket Size. Immediately I wanted to go on a run and test it out. Once I did I was extremely happy with the results.

I thought the Pocket Size ones were adorable! Perfect for throwing one in your gym bag and another in your purse.

Some info about BodyGlide For Her from BodyGlide:

Bodyglide® For Her provides comfort in sensitive areas such as with bras and on thighs, it’s resistant to perspiration and water, but it lets skin breathe even as it holds-up in heat and humidity.

Added Vitamin F Forte helps to hydrate and smooth skin, along with aloe and Vitamin E.

The long-lasting formula is ideal to maintain skin comfort all day, in any weather, and under all conditions.

Like the original technically advanced formula, it’s invisible, dry, fragrance free, and never oily or greasy.

It’s also ideal for feet, protecting against raw skin and blisters caused by footwear, from athletic shoes to everyday and formal wear, flats and strappies, boots and heels.

Seriously, this stuff is awesome! I 100% agree with everything above - from it being perfect in any condition to letting skin breathe even in humidity. If you have problems with chafing, bra straps becoming irritating, or blisters you need to try this stuff out! They have products for men, women, runners, swimmers, work, blisters.. the list goes on, so go check it out now!

Disclaimer: I was sent this product for free however all opinions are my own.

Indy 500 Race

Over the weekend I had the chance to go to the Indy 500 Race with a few friends. My dad gets free tickets each year and wasn't going so he gave them to us!

I'm normally not the type to want to sit around and watch racing but going with good friends makes it 10x more enjoyable. And not to mention the crazy people behind us who love racing a little too much!

The forecast showed a chance of rain all day but luckily for us it held out until we got back to our car after the race. It was an overcast day too, which is unusual because I feel like every time I go to a car race I get fried because it's so hot out!

Alex was able to come down for the holiday weekend too. He had to go back home for the summer to work so I don't get to see him very often now. Having him here all weekend was definitely a blast and he loves racing so it was a win-win for both of us :)

I hope you all had a fun Memorial Day weekend!

P.S. If you haven't done so yet, enter Kim's giveaway to win one of my non-slip and ouch-free headbands by clicking HERE! She's choosing a winner on Thursday!

Question

How did you spend your holiday weekend? Do you enjoy going to car races?

Hard Work Pays Off

If you remember back to when I started this blog, the sole reason I began blogging was to raise ovarian cancer awareness while training for my first half marathon in honor of my aunt.

This weekend I had the chance to present the money that was raised to my aunt, Hala, in front of family and friends.

Through fundraising, a bake sale, a t-shirt sale, and lots of hard work, together we were able to raise $2,149.39! My initial goal was to raise $1,300 and with the help of family and friends I was able to surpass that goal!

It was wonderful to see how happy my aunt and uncle were when I presented them with the check. It meant so much to see all of the hard work really pay off. They are going to use this money to help pay off some of their medical expenses.

Another fun thing that my uncle did for the celebration was mow a cancer ribbon in his front yard! So awesome!

This whole experience was really life changing. It was amazing to see yourself make an impact in someone's life, no matter how big or small the deed you do is. It's hard to believe that just a few months ago the idea of raising awareness and training for a half-marathon in honor of Hala was just an idea floating around in my head. Seeing it come true was amazing and I hope to keep on running the mini-marathon race and raise awareness!

The Perfect Headband

Hello friends! How have you all been? I'm sure you have all been wondering where I have been the last week or so as I have been in and out of the blogging world. I haven't even had a chance to read some of my favorite blogs because I've been that busy. Here's a little inside on what I've been up to.

I ran my first half marathon! My time wasn't what I was hoping for but now I have a new target time for the next race. And yes I want to sign up for another half marathon for this fall! I'm already addicted after running one. (A full recap will be up on the blog of the race once I get the pictures!)

I moved out of the dorms and into a house! I love not being in the dorm, being able to leave campus whenever I need to, and having my car parked right outside instead of at the parking garage. I don't care for cooking too much though. I like eating healthy meals that I make but I don't like thinking of different meals every day. I'm not very creative when it comes to cooking so that's where Pinterest comes in :)

I have been sewing! I could never find the perfect headband for running and working out so I thought I should just make my own. I tried some other bands that were non-slip but found them to be too tight and they gave me a headache so after looking around and getting a few ideas I came up with the perfect non-slip and ouch-free headband. I wore one of these headbands all day long and did not have to adjust it once and completely forgot I was even wearing it because I didn't have a headband-headache after 15 minutes of wear!

Solid colors: Grey, Navy, Purple, Baby Blue, Orange, Hot Pink, Lilac

I also didn't like how some headbands were lined with white ribbon. After one use I found them to look dirty from make-up and sweat, which grossed me out! These are all lined with ribbon that will not show dirt and the elastic in the back is less noticeable than other bands.

Chevon Colors: Apple Green, Sunshine Yellow, Sky Blue, Bubblegum Pink, Red

I have been having a blast searching craft stores for the perfect ribbons for these headbands! I love all of the different colors and patterns.

Pattern Colors: Brown Scroll, Night Owl, Neon Stripe, Blue Zebra, Red Polka Dot

The headbands are 7/8" wide and have a 21" circumference. If you need the headband to be bigger or smaller (remember the elastic allows it to stretch a few inches) I am able to make it to meet your needs. I am also able to make them for children with a circumference of 18".

Please let me know if you are interested in ordering a headband! All headbands are $8 with free shipping and payments will be sent through Paypal to make things easy. Just e-mail me at trufflesntreadmills [at] aol [dot] com and let me know which band you want to buy!

Fresh Lemon Cookies

Today I have a delicious recipe to share with all of you. Becky over at Olives n' Wine had me guest post over on her blog while she was having a blast at the Kentucky Derby! I didn't think that all of my readers had the chance to check out the recipe on her blog and because these cookies are to die for, I figured I'd better share it with all of you.

Most lemon cookies only have a small hint of lemon in them and you can barely taste it, but these cookies are different. They are sweet, chewy, fresh, and taste of real lemons. Even if you aren’t a huge lemon fan, you will find yourself going back for seconds.

Lemon Crinkle Cookies Recipe
Makes 2 dozen

Ingredients:
½ cups butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 whole egg
Lemon zest from 1 lemon*
Fresh lemon juice from 1 lemon*
¼ teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoons baking powder
⅛ teaspoons baking soda
1-½ cup all-purpose flour
½ cups powdered sugar

*I love lemons so I personally thought that using the juice and zest from an entire lemon was delicious. You can use more or less depending on your personal preference.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease baking sheets with non-stick cooking spray or line with parchment paper (this is my favorite method and makes for easy clean-up!)

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Whip in vanilla, egg, lemon zest, and juice. Scrape sides and mix again.

Stir in all dry ingredients slowly until just combined, excluding the powdered sugar. Scrape sides of bowl and mix again briefly.

Pour powdered sugar onto a large plate. Roll a heaping teaspoon of dough into a ball and roll in powdered sugar. Place on baking sheet and repeat with remaining dough.

Bake for 9-11 minutes or until bottoms begin to barely brown and cookies look matte (not melty or shiny). Remove from oven and cool cookies about 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

I made these cookies for a bake sale and they were a huge hit so I am sure you will enjoy them just as much! They would be perfect for your next spring party, a wedding shower, or for yourself!

Lemon Crinkle Cookies

Today I am being featured over on Becky's blog! I am sharing one of my favorite recipes - Lemon Crinkle Cookies.

I made these cookies for a bake sale and received a lot of wonderful feedback about them! Some people who don't even like lemons told me they loved these cookies and couldn't stop eating them.

So lemon lover or not, head on over, jot down the recipe and whip up a batch!

While you do that I will be working on a recap of the Indy Mini Marathon I ran over the weekend!

Mother's Day Coupon Book

I'm back! Finals are officially over and I can blog my little heart out (at least for the next 2 weeks until summer classes start back up!) I hope you enjoyed Brittany and Miranda's guest posts while I was away.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mother's Day is just a few weeks away!
If you need a quick, and creative gift idea then why not print out one of my fun coupon books? This is perfect especially if you are busy on Mother's Day and can't spend one-on-one time with your mom because you can plan a few fun mother-daughter dates!
I know that my mom would rather have a lunch date at her favorite restaurant and a Starbucks break during one of her busy days at work than get a bouquet of flowers this Mother's Day.
Just print out the page, cut on the lines, and staple or tie together with a bow! Your mom is sure to love it.
Question
What are you getting your mom this Mother's Day? Do you like buying or making gifts better?
