Ingredients
1/2 cup granulated sugar1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
30 Hersheys chocolate hearts or Hersheys Kisses, unwrapped
*Makes about 30 cookies
Directions
First mix together sugars, peanut butter, shortening, butter and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours.When the dough is firm heat the oven to 375ºF. Roll dough into 1 1/2" balls. Place on a cookie sheet that is lined with parchment paper (cookies won't stick and it makes cleanup easier). Gently flatten the cookie down with your hand instead of using a fork like other peanut butter cookie recipes call for.
Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately place a Hersheys chocolate heart in the center of each cookie and lightly press into the cookie. Cool 5 minutes and then remove from cookie sheet and let cool on wire rack.
